Rafiq Suraj is a creative writer in Marathi and an associate professor in Department of Marathi, Jayawant Mahavidyalya, Ichalkaranji. His research interests include studies into modern Marathi poetry and fiction. He has been supervising M Phil and PhD students of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has published short stories, novel, poetry and criticism. Rafiq is the author of three collections of short-stories namely, Abhaal, Bebas and Arshyatalya Aarshyat; a novel titled as Rahbar, a collection of poems, Song Gheun Haa Por as well as a collection of essays, Awad Niwad. Rafiq Suraj has received a number of awards given by Government of Maharashtra, Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, and Apte Nagar Vachan Mandir. His poetic work has been translated into Hindi, English and Kannada. His writings have been included into school and college level curriculum.

Recently, he is nominated as a member of Marathi Language Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
